Attractions / Verhniy Zhasylkol Lake
There is another lake thirteen kilometers above. It’s more beautiful and called Verhniy Zhasylkol. It is located at an altitude of 2200 m on a side tributary of Kikozen –Kyzylauz River. This lake is also formed as a result of a powerful earthquake. Right slope collapsed and blocked the gorge as a powerful dam of rock debris. The length of the lake is 3.3 km and an average width – 300 m. Its shape remind Central Asian salamander, (an endangered species, tailed amphibian that lives only in the mountains of Zhetisu Alatau). The water in the pond has a blue-green hue, echoing the surrounding green slopes covered with alpine meadows and sparse low shrubs. Due to the remoteness, unfortunately, lake is seldom visited as its attractiveness and beauty is in no way inferior to the lower lake.
