Kapal – the village in the Aksu region of Almaty . It is located on the plateau at height of 975 m above sea level, at the small river Kapal, in 81 km North to the east of the city of Taldykorgan. In 1854 a village Kapal received the status of the city and became in fact became the first the center of Russian Semirechya. In 1856 Kapal was visited by the scientist and traveler P. Semenov-Tian-Shansky. He counted in the city 700 houses in the city which have been cut down from a tyan-shansky fir-tree. The big settlement Kapal, which was the administrative and cultural center of Semirechya in the 19th century, before emergence Vernyi, is interesting by the history.
