The Chyortovo (Devil's) gorge is not really a canyon. There is a highly located cirque with the Abay glacier in this area, and a trail climbs the slopes of ancient moraines of the glacier that filled a small ravine at the foot of Abai peak. The area was named so because of a very prolonged and unpleasant ascent of moraines - "The place where the devil himself would break a leg." On topographic maps it is shown as the stow of "The Chyortovo (Devil’s) gorge".
A little higher than the buildings of the " Tuyuksu Gates" hotel at the entrance to the Chyortovo gorge there is a commemorative plate to nine young climbers who were lost in 1970 in an avalanche during snow training classes. Then the trail passes at the foot of rock walls of the northern slope of Oktyabryonok peak. From the Devil's gorge, passing over the Abai pass, you can get to the cirque of the Bogdanovich glacier.
