The gorge widens above the confluence of the river with the influx, forming a clearing of considerable size. " Tsvetmet " mountaineering camp was laid at one of these clearings in 1935, which was the first in Ile Alatau, Central and Middle Asia. The camp became the center of the development of mountaineering in the east. All important top of this and the neighboring valleys were conquered in the same years.
At the same time deposits of the mineral molybdenite were discovered near the camp high on the slope of the watershed ridge (3400 m) by climbers in one of the small gorges – Solnechnoe. Metal molybdenum was mined from ore; molybdenum is used in steel alloys for armor plates. During the war, Gulag camp system was located on the territory of the mountaineering camp. Production of molybdenite for the war effort began immediately; a small hydroelectric power station and dressing station were built. Ore was mined on artisanal way, without using mechanisms, and then prisoners themselves lowered the ore to the camp, which produced enrichment. Concentrate was brought to the valley on horses. After the war, the camp again became climbing, but under the name "Talgar" and worked until 1979, then it was destroyed by mudflow, came from Ozernyi glacier.
